about

This album is dedicated to Mikey Dee (the heart, soul, and liver of the live band) and to Tim Robert (the original "Shy" Skyy Shalimar). They were the foundation upon which this album was built.

A few months after the release of the Butterscott reunion album, "In A World...." I got a call from my hip-hop/R&B producer brother, "Fly" Guyy Shalimar. He just moved into a new studio space in Brooklyn and found underneath one of the toilets a big box labeled Butterscott with a pile of tapes inside. After spending an hour telling Guyy what tapes are, I flew out to New York, and we both went to the Lower East Side to visit our dad, "Hi-Fi" Sy Shalimar , who owned broadcast equipment from his days as a radio announcer.

As it turns out these were the long presumed lost master tapes from the fabled Tim Robert/Crackpot Studio sessions. It was from these tapes Butterscott released their hit single Wannitbad b/w Bartleby. The rest of the material inexplicably had never been heard by anyone, not even the band.

These sessions contained not only the sole studio recordings of Mikey Dee and Sock Eye Salm, but the first recordings of Buzz Syndrome and Hare Scare (not to be confused with The Original Hare Scare, who attended one rehearsal, left for a bathroom break and was never seen or heard from again). Along with those master tapes was a box of demos intended for those sessions but were far too damaged to be played, but contained extremely detailed notes for a concept album the band never finished.

The fine people at Buttersville USA spared no expense restoring the original Crackpot master tapes to their original sparkle and spared no expense getting the band out of rehab (again) to record these other lost gems, using the production techniques of the era. That's right. No expense spared, ensuring years of contractually obligated Butterscott product for years and years to come!!

Please also patronize our sponsors.

We are deeply indebted to you, our fans, and also very deeply in debt.

We would like to thank all the people who pretend to be us in Butterscott tribute bands all over the world:

Jonathan Pressman, Joel Simches, Carolyn Corella, Mikey Dee, Dan Foley, Pete Sutton, Tim Robert, Russell Prince, Joe Turner, Doug Pressman, and The Four Point Restraints- Evan Gadowski, Cat Verlicco, and especially Will Barry for his magic twanger and their pirate costumes. We would especially like to thank Brett Milano. Though, once again, he didn't play on this album, we hope he'll still say something really, really nice about us in Mojo.
